About
The story of Heartwood Acupuncture actually begins with yoga. Years of a desk job and distance running left my body stiff and chronically achy. While I expected physical relief from yoga, I did not expect spiritual and energetic respite. A lifelong bookworm, I sought to understand why and completed an extensive yoga teacher training as well as ayurvedic studies. Bringing yoga to students is a joy. The tug to Eastern healing traditions soon extended naturally to Traditional Chinese Medicine, and I made the difficult decision to leave a thirteen year career in the corporate world as a CPA to pursue my studies further.
With the support and patience of my partner, I obtained a Doctorate of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. Along the way, we celebrated the birth of our two daughters and worked through the loss of my parents to chronic disease. As a result of these personal experiences, I have a passion for treating women, particularly preconception and pregnancy wellness and postnatal recovery and menopause. I enjoy treating babies and children, particularly those with behavioral challenges, asthma and allergies, and GI disorders.
Finally, I have a tender spot in my heart for eldercare and diseases of aging, especially in the preservation of quality of life, independence, dignity, and the physical well-being of persons with cognitive disorders. Irrespective of your walk of life, I celebrate the common path of humanity we have all set foot on and invite you to restore balance in your life one step at a time.
